Synopsis:

Circa 1956, Pete a new immigrant arrives in Toronto from a war torn Italy and he is eager to leave behind all its painful memories and to start his new life and take his piece of the new world dream. However, Toronto’s west side Junction, continues its turbulent traditions where even a decade after World War II, entrenched prejudices of the presiding cultural have carved their ground and are not willing to share. Pete, is a tile setter worker desperate to find work to provide for his wife and baby. Stopping Pete is the city’s big tile contractor Keefe McKay and his hot head son, Jamie. Pete, determined, pushes to secure work and stands his ground, aggravating the McKays. This prompts an all time ‘turf’ gang fight between the Italians, the Jews and the Irish. Pete, quickly learns that the new world is laced with the same hatred of the world he thought he left behind. Who will be the first to put down their fists? And who will be the first to demonstrate the first act of mercy?
